A fun fact before we start the review: In the first chapter of this book, Donald Trump included a friendly photo of himself with then-First Lady Hillary Clinton. In the caption, he lauded her success and even complimented her as being 'wonderful!' In hindsight, seeing such a thing in print is simply hilarious, and I'm sure any prospective reader will find some entertainer value in that tidbit alone. It really doesn't get funnier than that!

Horrible, just like he is. I'm surprised I finished it. I read it only because we've had it for 20 years. The most self aggrandizing book I've ever read. I'm surprised he didn't demand Ali to hand over the title of the greatest. Women -or girls to him, money, f&cking people over, winning, member of the lucky sperm club (his words, as if only men can make money) I can't give this book even one star. He is the most self absorbed person on the planet, now, then, since he was born.

This is my first Trump book but I knew what I was getting into. It's basically a long book of Trump talking about himself and his accomplishments. He goes on and on about all the famous people he knows and the awards he won for his wonderful work.
It is fascinating though. It's a good way to get inside of his head and see how he brought himself out of a low point in his life. It's written like a biography of sorts.

I recently read Trump's 'Art of the Deal' which covers his career up until the mid-1980s. It was an interesting read but, as I mentioned in the review for that book, it was more autobiographical (about his many real estate deals) than business-oriented. I wanted to read this book because it covers Trumps career from the late-1980s to the late 1990s -- a time when Trump's empire crumbled due to the recession in the early 1990s. I had hoped to learn why he was so badly impacted by the recession, w..more

To achieve greatness and to be viewed by others as a true success only to lose it all is a big contrast. This book encompasses the will to fight from nothing to an even higher level of greatness then previously experienced. This book is proof that you are never too far down to make an incredible comeback.
A terrific set of stories that taught me a lot about making deals.

EPIC!
It was a good book, not as deep as the others but it was pretty solid, I guess since I'm reading his books based on no order I don't get to appreciate how his book evolved over the years (I first read Art of the deal then how to get rich then now this one) so I am assuming that if I did read it in proper order I would be able to appreciate it better.

By now, if you've read the other two books, there is not a whole lot new here. More deals, more name dropping, more praise for Trump's many properties, lots of ego and lots of talk about power. I read this the year it was published. Trump was a cartoonish figure in American pop culture even then. But, back then it was enjoyable in a strange way, to watch a self-obsessed, narcissistic, sociopath, brag about how brilliant he was. Mostly because EVERYONE was laughing AT him. I read this way before he was president and had earned respect for him for recovering from bankruptcy twice and become billionaire again. After he became president I have lost all respect for him. The book is still a good read and encouraging, specially for entrepreneurs and real estate investors.

There are few greater megalomaniacs than Trump, but let's give credit to who credit is due. The guy knows how to generate wealth, even having lost everything. He never gave up hope despite stress from many corners.
This a good read for those looking for the kind of fortitude that pushes through the difficult and doesn't stop at the impossible.

Trump: The Art of the Comeback is a 1997 book written by businessman Donald Trump and journalist Kate Bohner.[1]

Synopsis[edit]

In the book, Donald Trump writes about his bankruptcy in 1990 and how he managed to 'comeback' through negotiations.[2] In the book, Trump notably revealed that he was 'a germ freak' and 'often thought of taking out a series of newspaper ads encouraging the abolishment of the handshake.'[3][4][5][6] Trump also explains why he divorced his first two wives: Ivana Trump and Marla Maples; he claimed that Trump talked too much about work while Maples wanted him to return earlier. Trump's accounts were denied by both ex-wives.[7] Trump also criticizes journalist Tina Brown, claiming that she reneged on a promise to write favorably about him in the past.[3][8] Trump called Brown 'the worst,' stating, 'She's totally overrated. I think she's third-rate at best. If you look at Vanity Fair, it's a better magazine today than when she ran it.' Brown was also the wife of Harold Evans, who was the president of Random House at the time.[3] Trump also lists the 'problems [he] had with her (Alicia Machado)', the winner of Miss Universe in 1996, including her weight gain and her criticism of Trump in an interview with The Washington Post.[9]

The book also offers ten tips for successes.[10]The rules are:

1. PLAY GOLF
2. STAY FOCUSED
3. BE PARANOID
4. BE PASSIONATE
5. GO AGAINST THE TIDE
6. GO WITH YOUR GUT
7. WORK WITH PEOPLE YOU LIKE
8. BE LUCKY
9. GET EVEN
10. ALWAYS HAVE A PRENUPTIAL AGREEMENT

Writing[edit]

After the release of Trump's 1990 book, Trump: Surviving at the Top, he said that his next book 'will be the real story, describing my comeback and the success of it all.' Trump said he would write the book 'in a couple of years.' Peter Osnos, the editor for Surviving at the Top, said, 'If Donald's career unfolds the way he is determined it will, his next book will make a great story.'[11] Trump said he was asked by Random House to write The Art of the Comeback, his third book, after the company was impressed by his emergence from bankruptcy.[3] On August 1, 1997, eight hours before the deadline, the final draft of the book was turned in.[12]Kate Bohner's life as Trump's ghostwriter was documented by her 'best friend', Candace Bushnell, of New York Observer.[12] While writing for Trump, Bohner was nicknamed 'Kateso'.[12] League of legend mac download.

Reception[edit]

Fred Andrews of The New York Times wrote 'The man combines imagination with muscle. If only he could keep his mouth shut' and noted that 'Trump is forever saying the obvious, as though his perceptions were original or important.'[13] Meanwhile, Craig Offman of Salon noted that Trump 'admits he suffers from an even greater political liability: honesty.'[14]
